The special guests pose for photographs. Left to right are the Nantwich Town Mayor (Cllr Graham Fenton), the MP for Crewe and Nantwich (Edward Timpson), the Lord Lieutenant, and the Deputy Mayor of Cheshire East (Cllr Dorothy Flude).

Pupils of Pear Tree School, Nantwich, they helped the Lord Lieutenant (pictured with them) to light the floral beacon

Nantwich fire service advised that the flame would be best extinguished when there was no one responsible in the vicinity of it. So Nantwich in Bloom Chairman, Doug Butterill, used his patented flame snuffer - fashioned from a wood saw.  He is assisted by Nantwich in Bloom's Secretary, Sue Hughes.

Left: Nantwich's Town Crier, John Parsons, addresses those present to thank everyone who had attended the event and those who had taken part. He did this on behalf of Nantwich in Bloom  Above: Pupils, teachers, parents and adults in town at the time, enjoy the party which followed the beacon-lighting ceremony
