NANTWICH and Crewe Fire Cadets answered a call out to attend to flowering baskets and Nantwich Museum's planters (right) on June 1.

The Cadets' officers had volunteered the youngsters' services and it was also an opportunity to present a cheque for 50, raised by the young people through

supermarket bag packing among other ways.

After posing for the picture above, the cadets split into two groups. One hung pre-planted flowering baskets in Pepper Street, while the other took more baskets to Nantwich Railway Station - even if some

of them did think for a while that their destination was Nantwich FIRE Station.  A misunderstanding of the comment: "These are for the station."

Then it was on to Nantwich Museum to put more plants in the planters outside the museum (centre.

The whole operation was co-ordinated by Nantwich in Bloom Chairman, Doug Butterill assisted by members of the committee.

Pictured far left: David Smith receives the cheque from Simon Bright (Instructor, Crewe Cadets) and Janet Pirie, with Ellie Cheeseman (front).

The pictures below show the hanging baskets being put up at the railway station.
