Facelift for home that was a farmhouse

Above, the former farmhouse in very recent memory. In the distance (right) are what seem to be mounds of rubble or  something on what was then Dewhurst's clothing factory site.

THIS house in Millstone Lane, Nantwich, used to be a farm called Ash Tree Farm, I understand.  In recent years it has undergone a refurbishment, possibly carried out by one man. That is, any time I walked past there seemed to be just one man working on it - the current owner?

      It was a farm in very recent living memory. I know that because Nantwich

 

historian Andrew Lamberton tells me there were farm fields behind the building that reached to The Mount (off Crewe Road). He saw them when he played tennis at the old courts of Nantwich Tennis Club which now has premises at Windy Arbour, off the Alvaston roundabout on the A530 Middlewich Road.
