Nominated for community award

 February 2013

A NANTWICH LITTER GROUP PAGE

NANTWICH Litter Group has been nominated by listeners of The Cat Radio in the on-line station's Achievement of the Year Community Awards 2013. They will go through to the finals at a Gala Presentation Evening at Richmond Village.

The event will be held on Saturday, February 23, at the London Road, Nantwich, venue.

This is a fitting tribute to the group which was formed by Nantwich Town Councillor, John Lewis, two years ago. The success of the group is down to the determination of volunteers working both individually and in groups to make Nantwich a town to be proud of for residents and visitors alike. It is in no small part due to the enthusiasm and hard work of the Team Leader, Joyce Webb.

VOLUNTEERS met at Bower's Row car park, in Mill Street, on February 6 for the latest Group Pick. Two teams of members set out to pick up litter - one going along Welsh Row to the canal aqueduct, the other along Waterlode and Wellington Road to the traffic lights near to Brine Leas School.

To prepare for the task on a very cold day, they enjoyed a warming cup of coffee at Harrison's cafe in High Street.

The teams collected 18 bags of rubbish which were later collected by Cheshire East Council's Streetscape team.

Details of litter picks will be posted in What's On - General on this website.
