Pickers go down to the woods

If you go down to the woods today you're sure of

. . . a grot spot.

But then the litter pickers moved in

TWO woodland grot spots were tackled in the latest pick, resulting in nearly 40 bags of litter and assorted items of rubbish being collected.

The wooded areas adjacent to the River Weaver footbridge off St Anne's Lane car park and Shrewbridge Road car park are both attractive sites made available for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike.

However, when not respected, they accumulate litter in the form of fast food packaging, bottles, cans, discarded dog poo bags, sweet papers and the like.

Volunteers worked enthusiastically to transform these areas. To reinforce their efforts the Litter Group strongly urges people to use  the litter and dog bins provided.

After the pick, coffee, refreshments and a chat were enjoyed at Enzo cafe in The Square.

l Anyone interested in coming along to lend a hand at a future litter pick, should please contact Team Leader Joyce Webb on 01270 626435 or email joycewebb47@hotmail.com. New volunteers will be welcome and litter picking kit can be provided. Details of litter picks will be posted in What's On - General on this website
