A WET Wednesday morning did not deter the group when 13 volunteers met in September. However, a change in routine seemed appropriate and a heartening coffee at Cafe de Paris before starting the pick increased morale and gave the rain time to ease off.
The route included part of Wellington Road, Station Road to Cronkinson Oak, various footpaths and the area around Morrison's supermarket.
A clear-out under a hedge produced a heap of rubbish which was duly collected for disposal by Cheshire East Council's Streetscape, along with many other bags collected by the group.
THE final mid-week Group Pick of 2013 will take place in October, with the official picks resuming in January. But volunteers - currently totalling over 70 - continued working in their own chosen areas either individually or in small groups. It is this ongoing activity that is at the heart of the Litter Group's success.
Keeping our town free of litter is something in which everyone can play a part. Residents and traders alike are urged to make sure that the pavement / grass / hedge in front of their home or premises is kept tidy.
THE group has extended its activities to include a monthly Group Pick to be held on the third Saturday of the month.
We hope that these will attract people who work during the week or are otherwise engaged on
