April 2015                                                                                                                                                           A NANTWICH LITTER GROUP PAGE

NANTWICH Litter Group are very proud that their team leader, Joyce Webb, has received a "Salt of the Earth" award.

The Mayor of Nantwich, Cllr Christine Farrell, introduced the "Salt of the Earth" awards to recognise and celebrate some of the unsung heroes of the town and to acknowledge the work of all volunteers and community helpers in Nantwich.

The awards covered several categories including Outstanding Organisations. Joyce was nominated for her work with the Litter Group.

The presentations were made at a ceremony attended by the High Sheriff of Cheshire, Susan Sellers, and preceded the Mayor's Charity Dance.

Nantwich Litter Group was formed in 2010 by Councillor John Lewis. Joyce volunteered to lead the group in its various activities and has been an inspiration through her tireless work, good humour and encouragement.  The group has grown steadily and the number of volunteer litter pickers now stands at around 80.

This is a friendly and welcoming group so anyone wishing to join is asked to contact Joyce Webb on 01270 626435 or email joycewebb47@hotmail.com.
