THE knot garden pictured here is not, of course,
something that would draw in crowds of people, but it is all we have for the moment
while someone in Cheshire East Council planning department makes up their mind
about the application to build on the potential tourist attraction land (see
Nantwich Walled Garden - 1).
It is, in fact, in the front garden of
one of a row of houses that I noticed when I walked past it. I won't say
just where to avoid a rush of people wishing to take a photograph to the
possible annoyance of the resident.
With the "real" walled garden-to-be
still in limbo awaiting the planning decision, the Nantwich Walled Garden
Society members must be admired in that they are still determined to
acquire the garden site and convert it.
I think I will nominate the group as a
whole to win one of the Salt of the Earth Awards given annually by Nantwich Town
Council to individuals or groups who do good works for the community. They
deserve something in return for their persistence.
