THE hedgehog population is declining rapidly for a number of reasons and Highfield School, Nantwich. is doing its bit to help reverse this trend, writes Doug Butterill, Company Secretary of Greenspaces South Cheshire CIC.

Year 4, under the supervision of Mrs Casey, placed a hedgehog house in the school's woodland area close to where they believe hedgehogs roam.

The house, which I made for the school, was provided by Greenspaces, which is

backing the hedgehogs project. The house was covered with leaves and branches for added insulation.

I have three hedgehogs visiting my garden and it would be great if we could make this area of Nantwich into a hedgehog sanctuary. With the children's help we might achieve this.

Can you spot the hedgehog house?
