Schools provide shelter for the local birds

DOUG Butterill, Company Secretary of Greenspaces South Cheshire CIC, constructed the bird boxes that appear on this page.

Then he dismantled them into flat packs so that the pupils of the schools could assemble them for their teacher to put up. He proudly displays one of the boxes, here.

Doug, a professional landscape gardener (retired) has been on the Nantwich scene for many decades, principally for his work with Nantwich in Bloom. He has since stood down as Chairman and

relinquished his membership.

He was recently described as "a local wildlife expert", but he refutes that title, even though he has made bird boxes and boxes for hedgehogs to be safe in . . .!

These were all made for the benefit of local pupils in extracurricular lessons.
