IN the heavy
rain of June 7, Nantwich Civic Society
entertained 31 members of Lancaster
Civic Society in a trip around the town.
The visitors were met at the Civic
Hall by Civic Society members who
include Nantwich Town Mayor, Cllr
Christine Farrall. She in turn was
accompanied by her Consort, her
husband, Mr David Farrall.
The Lancaster party were taken
around the town by guides from
Nantwich Museum - Kate Dobson
(Museum Manager) and
Barrie Astbury (a Volunteer).

They showed them the
town centre's many historic
buildings, including St Mary's
Parish Church where a duty Steward
gave them a tour of the church.
The visit ended at the museum where
the new Chairman, Nick Dyer, and
Museum Volunteers
showed the visitors around the
exhibits.
The group lunched in town before
continuing to Beeston Castle and St Boniface's Parish Church, Bunbury.
The visit by our Lancaster colleagues was most |

welcome. Despite the heavy rain, the visitors saw and learned just what an
interesting and historic place Nantwich is.
They had their appetites whetted
for a return visit in more detail - and hopefully in better weather.
In return, the Lancaster visitors
have invited Nantwich Civic Society members to a reciprocal visit in the
near future. |
