Car parking charges cut

NANTWICH Town Councillors have won a partial victory on car parking charges. In the front page lead story of the Nantwich Chronicle (November 24, 2010) it was reported that Cheshire East Council had agreed to a reduction in the charges from 70p to 50p for the first hour and from £1 to 90p for two hours. There was no mention of the other charges - two to four hours and four to 10 hours. Sunday parking costs 50p, and presumably won't change either.

Cllr Arthur Moran, who has been at the head of the fight to reduce the charges is quoted as saying it was only "a step in the right direction." He and the other campaigners want parity throughout the Borough Council's area. Congleton's charges are 30p for the first hour and 50p for two hours.
