Letter from Nantwich update

'Spending penny' in town's Comfort Scheme

THIS item might not seem to be the most important that you will read on this website . . . unless you need a toilet in a hurry while visiting Nantwich and have your iPhone to hand.

As you will read here, the town lost all but two of its public toilets  -  next to the Market Hall and in Wall Lane, off Beam Street. The latter, on the Snow Hill car park, is currently closed for refurbishment.

One not listed because it is for events patrons only, is at the Town Council-owned Civic Hall - where you will also find the Tourist Information Centre.

But fear not, some of the town's traders have come to the rescue of visitors in need of relief, allowing the use of the toilets at their premises during normal opening hours - and you don't have to be a customer!

They will not charge you, but the Town Council will pay a small annual fee to each business taking part

Of course, the businesses will hope that you might stay in their premises and spend more than a penny (no charge really) but that is not a condition.

Look for a sign on the doors of participating businesses - such as the one on the Museum's front door, above.

o The toilets at the side of the Market (in Churchyardside) are open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 4pm. However, they are closed on Bank Holidays.
